Community Foundation Wales has supported Welsh Procurement Alliance to award grants to its members to enable them to respond to the needs of those within the communities in which they work.
All projects have identified a way to build local community cohesion, reduce the isolation of those that are vulnerable and improve the health and well-being of families struggling with the effects of living on low incomes.
Following on from the success of last year’s grant, Bron Afon Community Housing Association again ran a small grants programme called Helping Hands, where local organisations and businesses could apply for funding of £50-£1,000 for projects to improve the lives of vulnerable local people at Christmas time. Grants were awarded towards the cost of food parcels, energy and utility costs and essential items/services to reduce isolation for those living alone and to help families make good memories to cherish forever.
