Next Steps (£20,000 awarded)
Next Steps is an innovative multi-organisation initiative that offers young people training in Construction, an opportunity to gain a modern apprenticeship with either local contractors or Carmarthenshire County Council whilst working on a community based project.
The project involves Carmarthenshire County Council, Coleg Sir Gar, CCTAL/CYFLE, Lloyd & Gravell Ltd, and TRJ Ltd. Young people apply for a place on Next Steps and if successful at interview are offered a two week placement at Coleg Sir Gar before joining a site based team undertaking a Community Benefit Project.
In the past projects have included constructing sensory gardens and outside spaces in Care Homes and Respite Centres, Schools for pupils with learning difficulties and Glangwili Hospital Children's Ward.
