Public sector opportunities pegged for MMC homes specialists in 2022
Housing contractors and manufacturers are being sought to help shape a multi-million-pound framework launching later this year to deliver MMC homes including net carbon zero homes.
WPA Group’s Modern Methods of Construction of New Homes (NH3) framework will run across England, Scotland and Wales in a bid to address new housing challenges in the sector.
The framework will allow local authorities, social landlords and other contracting authorities to source housing, apartments, multi-occupancy buildings including care homes, sheltered accommodation and student accommodation.
Where the previous framework covered three-dimensional units and panelised systems, the updated framework NH3 will now also look to include a wider range of MMC categories.
Dean Fazackerley, Head of Technical Procurement at LHC, said:
“NH3 aims to support local authorities in their journey to net zero using a range of MMC and by developing collaboration, and aggregation of demand between clients and the supply chain to deliver significant improvement in the social value and community benefits whilst supporting local housing needs.”
The new framework will build on the success of the previous, where 42 projects worth £93.5m have already been delivered across the country.
To boost contribution to national targets and increase provision of MMC in new housing, we are encouraging both manufacturers and contractors to express an interest to become involved in pre-tender engagement to help shape the future framework.
Firms on the existing NH2 framework include BWF Construction Services, CCG, Engie Regeneration, Hadden Construction, hatch. Homes Accelerator, Ilke Homes, Impact Modular, Innovare Systems, ISO Spaces South West, Kenton Jones, LoCal Homes, Module-AR, Rollalong, and Zed Pods.
Running the framework countrywide are LHC’s regional hubs, Scottish Procurement Alliance (SPA), Consortium Procurement Construction (CPC), Welsh Procurement Alliance (WPA), South West Procurement Alliance (SWPA) and London and South East (LSE).
Both manufacturers and contractors are encouraged to register interest for the framework, opening for applications in summer 2022.
